Focused on Fairness
Spotts Fain is a Virginia law firm built on a culture of treating our clients fairly, with a focused and firm commitment to representing our clients with strength and integrity. We believe that these commitments are the foundation for success - for our clients and for our firm.
In dynamic times where the rules seem to change daily, stability is a precious commodity. We are committed to working with our clients -- fairly, honestly and transparently. You can count on us.
Our goal is clear: to be a strong Virginia law firm built on integrity, built with a conscience, built on fairness.
In 1988 Meade Spotts identified a need in Richmond's legal market for a small to mid-sized firm focused on the representation of businesses. At the time, Spotts was swamped with corporate transactional work and was referring out all business litigation. Hugh Fain was a commercial litigator who knew Spotts well. A series of discussions between the two led to a joinder of forces and in 1992 Spotts and Fain united with a shared vision: to build a full-service business law firm providing top quality legal representation at fair rates.
Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, the law firm continued to build momentum. It grew in both numbers and service offerings suited to the expanding and changing needs of businesses and their owners. In response to its clients' needs for representation on matters before the General Assembly and Virginia's administrative and regulatory agencies, the firm established Spotts Fain Consulting in 2003.
Over the years, Spotts Fain’s owners have proudly guided and witnessed the firm’s continued growth. And while Spotts Fain continues to evolve, it nurtures and maintains its original identity and commitment: a full-service, business-focused law firm, dedicated to delivering legal services fairly, honestly and transparently, with strength, focus and integrity.
The firm celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2018. And in 2020, Spotts Fain introduced its new brand, one grounded in its tradition of excellence and focused on the future of its clients, its community and its people.
Spotts Fain is led by its three-member Executive Committee:
- Jennifer J. West, President
