Tom O’Brien Honored by Virginia Lawyers Weekly with 2026 Hall of Fame Induction

Spotts Fain is pleased to announce that Tom O’Brien, Shareholder and head of the firm’s Corporate and Business Transactions Practice, has been named a member of the Virginia Lawyers Weekly 2026 Hall of Fame.

This honor is reserved for attorneys who have practiced law for more than 30 years and have made a lasting mark on the legal profession. Selection criteria include career accomplishments, contributions to the development of the law, service to the Bar and the Commonwealth, and efforts to support and strengthen the legal community.

Tom is widely recognized for his work in corporate and business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate and development matters. Over the course of his career, he has advised clients across a broad range of industries, serving as a trusted counselor on corporate governance, entity formation, and strategic transactions, as well as a long-time outside general counsel to many businesses.

In addition to leading the firm’s Corporate and Business Transactions Practice, Tom also heads its mergers and acquisitions team, where he has guided clients through complex, high-stakes deals and growth strategies. His practice spans regulatory and administrative matters, construction, financial services, and legislative and governmental relations, allowing him to bring a comprehensive, business-focused perspective to every client engagement.

Tom has been honored as a  Best Lawyers in America Best Lawyers in America 2018-2026 for Corporate Law, a Best Lawyers in America 2026 for Corporate Governance Law, and a Virginia Lawyers Weekly Go To Lawyer for Business Transactions, 2024.
