Spotts Fain proudly announces that Virginia Lawyers Weekly named attorney Chris Hurley as a 2025 “Up & Coming Lawyer".

This award recognizes attorneys who have excelled in the profession and are standouts among their peers — all in their first 10 years of practice. These lawyers have been making a name for themselves and displaying the determination and accomplishments that establish them as future leaders.

Chris practices in the Creditors’ Rights section of the firm, focusing on advising and representing creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, commercial litigation, and collections and recovery actions in state and federal courts. Chris’s experience ranges from routine collections matters to complex commercial litigation, including commercial unlawful detainers, seeking the appointment of a receiver to manage commercial real estate, prosecuting and defending recovery actions in bankruptcy court, representing chapter 7 trustees in bankruptcy cases and related litigation, and helping lenders protect their rights in criminal asset forfeiture proceedings.

Chris was named a Partner in the firm earlier this year, and has also been recognized as a Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch - Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law and Litigation - Bankruptcy 2026.

Congratulations to Chris and to all the 2025 Virginia Lawyers Weekly Up and Coming Lawyers!
