Spotts Fain is pleased to announce attorneys Clay Hester and Kasey Hoare Michelle have been promoted to Partner.

"Both Clay and Kasey have been with Spotts Fain since 2018, and have greatly contributed to the firm and their practice areas, particularly in construction law for Clay, and employment law for Kasey. Clay Hester is a commercial litigator with experience representing clients in a wide range of matters in state and federal court, including complex contract and business disputes, construction litigation, intellectual property litigation, and various real estate disputes. Clay regularly counsels clients in the construction industry on issues including performance and payment bond claims, filing, enforcing or defending mechanic's liens, delay claims, design-related issues, and defective construction materials. In addition to Clay’s construction practice, he also has experience representing clients in various trademark matters, including Lanham Act claims, trademark registration and maintenance, and in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Office. In 2023, Clay was honored as an Up & Coming Lawyer by Virginia Lawyers Weekly. Clay is licensed to practice in both Virginia and North Carolina.

Kasey Hoare Michelle is an attorney in the litigation section of the firm. She represents clients in commercial and business litigation in Virginia's state and federal courts. Kasey focuses her practice primarily on employment law, advising corporate clients on employee misconduct and dispute resolution, revising employment policies and employee handbooks, drafting employment and separation agreements, and defending against proceedings initiated by government agencies. Prior to joining the firm, she had the honor of serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Beverly W. Snukals for the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond. Kasey gives back to the community in a variety of ways and was named 2023 Young Lawyer of the Year by The Bar Association of the City of Richmond.
