Richmond Delivery Wars Update: Walmart Heats Up the Competition

In its ongoing competition with e-commerce giant Amazon, Walmart announced a new tactic. The retail giant is asking volunteer employees to make deliveries to its online customers at the end of their shifts. The "associate delivery" program will use the nearly 1.2 million employees to make deliveries faster and at a lower cost to the company. Participants will be paid for making deliveries and paid overtime if necessary. Two stores in New Jersey and one in Arkansas are currently testing the concept. Of course, these deliveries include grocery products, as a recent report indicated that 56% of Walmart's sales.
