Michael Yager

As Director of e-Discovery for Spotts Fain's Electronic Discovery and Information Analytics (DIA), Michael Yager contributes to the Firm's compliance with best practices and the law of e-Discovery. He plays an active role in helping ensure that this segment of litigation complies with the Federal and State rules governing it.

Michael is involved in every stage of e-Discovery for the Firm and its clients, from the collection, early case assessment, and processing of electronically stored information (ESI) to the management of the Firm's in-house document review platform, the attorney review process, and the production of documents. The Firm assists clients with e-Discovery as it relates to litigation, responses to subpoenas, or internal corporate investigations. The emphasis is on a cost-efficient, best practice, and Rules compliant result.

The Director focuses on increasing process defensibility and efficiency by incorporating project management principles into the e-Discovery lifecycle. He manages process development to ensure DIA's e-Discovery analytics and document review service offerings continue to evolve on pace with technology and best practices.

Michael spoke on electronic discovery at fourteen events in 2012, to audiences including state and county government agencies, corporate counsel, law firms, and national webinars. His article on e-Discovery appeared in the quarterly NALA publication, Facts and Findings, Apr/May/Jun 2011. He is also author and presenter of the popular CLE course approved by the Virginia State Bar, The e-Discovery Challenge: Practice and Ethics.
