Michael Yager
Michael Yager has been intimately involved over the last two decades in nearly every aspect of litigation, both traditionally and, more recently, in e-Discovery. After graduating from Old Dominion University and the College of William and Mary, he served as an Officer in the United States Air Force and with the Department of Defense. Thereafter, he was a member of the corporate staff of Bell & Howell Corporation in Chicago.
As Director of e-Discovery for Spotts Fain, Michael contributes to the Firm's compliance with best practices in e-Discovery. He plays an active role in helping to ensure that this segment of litigation complies with the Federal and State rules governing it. Over the years, he has been involved in serving clients in cases both small and large, from trial support and preparation in federal courts throughout the country to managing an e-Discovery collection in the People's Republic of China. Michael is involved in every stage of e-Discovery for the Firm and its clients, from the forensic collection and processing of electronically stored information (ESI) to the management of a litigation database for review and production of documents responsive to either litigation discovery requirements or third-party subpoenas. The emphasis is on a cost-efficient and Rules compliant approach to this area of legal practice. His philosophy of client service is that every case, regardless of its size and scope, and every client, from a multinational corporation to a single individual, is accorded the same sense of urgency and dedication.
Michael spoke on electronic discovery at two events in 2011:
- University of Richmond Jepson Center presentation March 3
- NALA Campus Live presentation, e-Discovery:
Slowing DownCatching Up with the Train in May.
He also wrote an article on e-Discovery for the quarterly NALA publication, Facts and Findings, Apr/May/Jun 2011.
