November 2008 - The Virginia Bar Association has named four Spotts Fain attorneys VBA Community Servants for 2007, Hugh Fain, John Anderson, Lee Stephens and Connell Mullins were recognized for their "dedicated efforts to provide valuable service to the community during the year 2007." Lawyers are recognized for giving 100 hours or more of certified pro bono publico legal service and nonlegal community service.

The Foundation is governed and administered by a board of trustees for the purpose of providing funding for veteran services and programs in the Commonwealth through the Veterans Services Fund.

Spotts Fain is proud to sponsor a Summer Intern with the E. Angus Powell Endowment for American Enterprise Summer Economic Institute. The mission of the endowment is to promote economic literacy among young people. The work portion of the program allows participating students to examine the principles of the American enterprise system first-hand.
We are very pleased to announce that Dana D. McDaniel has joined the firm as a Shareholder and Director. Mr. McDaniel was named Top Information Technology/Intellectual Property Lawyer in Virginia by Virginia Business magazine in Dec. 2000. He was a founding director of the Greater Richmond Intellectual Property Association and is active in national and state bar associations.

Meade A. Spotts, Hugh M. Fain, III and Robert H. Chappell, III were recognized by their peers as being among Virginia's 2003 Legal Elite.
In November, Erin Elizabeth Corbett joined the firm as an associate and will practice in the firm's Collections section. Ms. Corbett earned her B.B.A in Marketing with a supplemental major in Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame in 2000. She earned her J.D. from the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 2003.
Brian Thomas Chase, a second-year student at the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, has accepted an offer to join our 2004 Summer Associate program.
In September, Maurice F. (Connell) Mullins, Jr. joined the firm as an associate. Mr. Mullins earned a B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia in 1997. In 2001, he received a J. D. from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Langhorne Keith, Judge for the Circuit Court of Fairfax County from 2001-2002. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Henry E. Hudson, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia, from 2002-2003.
One of SFCA's legal assistants, Kate Philpott, was accepted to University of Virginia School of Law and began her studies in August.
In June, SFCA sponsored its second Summer Economics Institute intern, Anna Almore, from the Powell Endowment at Collegiate School. Last year's Godwin High School intern, Stephanie Hassell, is returned to the firm for summer employment.
On April 18, 2003, Hugh Fain spoke at the Spring Conference of the International Management Accountants, Virginia Council. Mr. Fain's topic was Selected Issues in Human Resources: Military Leave Rights, The Americans with Disabilities Act and Restrictive Employment Covenants.
In April, Hugh Fain was nominated to serve as Secretary-Treasurer of the Richmond Bar Association for the 2003-04 Bar year. Mr. Fain has served on the Board of the Richmond Bar Association since 1999.
In April, the firm's Administrative Manager, Kimberly A. King, was elected President of the Richmond Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.
In March, Harry Ware was elected to the Vestry of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
