![]() Mike Cooper joined Spotts Fain in 2006. In 2004, he earned his J.D., magna cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he served as Notes and Comments Editor of the University of Richmond Law Review. He received his B.S., summa cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000. Mike serves an Adjunct Assistant Professor at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in their Paralegal Program. He is currently teaching Estate Planning and Probate. He practices in the business section of the firm, where he has focused in the areas of business, immigration, real estate, intellectual property, entertainment and media law. His recent transactions include: Represented regional developer in acquiring and constructing retail sites throughout Virginia on behalf of a major national pharmacy chain.
Assisted banks in renegotiating and working out a number of large-scale defaulted or unsecure loans related to residential real estate development.
Ongoing counsel to the largest franchisee of a restaurant group during a number of multi million dollar private offerings, site acquisitions, lease negotiations and corporate structuring involving locations throughout the southeastern United States.
As an immigrant and regular transatlantic traveler himself, Mike has valuable first-hand knowledge of immigration processes and procedures from the client's perspective, and also has experience with immigration matters relating to the United Kingdom, families located both in the US and the UK, and families with spouses and/or children of differing citizenships.
