R. Lee Stephens Jr.

R. Lee Stephens Jr. is the resident shareholder at Spotts Fain's Irvington Office.  His law practice concentrates on conservation, business, real estate transactions, and government relations.

Mr. Stephens received a B.A in English from the University of Virginia in 1979. From 1979 to 1984 he served as a destroyer officer in the United States Navy, and continued to serve in the Intelligence community of the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1992. Mr. Stephens earned his J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in 1987.  Mr. Stephens served as General Counsel to The Tides Inn, a nationally-acclaimed resort, and then as President of the resort.

Mr. Stephens is a director of the Northern Neck Insurance Co. In 2005, he was appointed by Governor Warner to serve on the inaugural Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Virginia 's Natural Resources. He has served as chair of the Resort Hotel Association. He is also actively involved with many non-profit organizations in Virginia , such as the Northern Neck Land Conservancy, where he currently serves as a member of the board of directors, and he serves as General Counsel to the Virginia Society of Association Executives.
