Jen focuses her practice on creditors' rights, commercial litigation, insolvency and bankruptcy. In her practice, she represents primarily banks and other lending institutions, with a focus on community banks, in connection with restructuring, workouts, litigation, debtor/creditor collections and foreclosures. Representative clients include large national lending institutions, community banks, landlords and private individuals.
Additionally, Jen dedicates a significant portion of her practice to bankruptcy, representing creditors in Chapter 11, Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings involving primarily commercial debtors along with some consumer matters. She also has experience representing Chapter 7 Trustees in bankruptcy proceedings for the purpose of recovering assets of debtors for the benefit of creditors through the recovery of fraudulent conveyances, avoidance actions and liquidation of various types of property.
Jen earned her B.A., cum laude in Political Science and Sociology from Virginia Tech in 1996. In 2001, she earned her J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary.
Jen is a member of the Richmond Bar Association, and currently serves on the Administration of Justice Committee as well as the Executive Board for the Bankruptcy Section. She served on the Board of Directors and was Program Chair 2006-2008 of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation and is a past member of the Metropolitan Richmond Women's Bar Association and its Legislative Committee.
Jen and her family live in Chester, Va., where they are active members of the Tri-Cities Hokie Club. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund. She and her husband are also season ticket holders for Virginia Tech football and basketball games.
